Prior to the Son taken on a human form He was YAH's Chief Messenger aka Archangel. He was given authority to represent YAH to His creation so yes, He held the title "God" in His prehuman form.
Judges 13:21-22 When the Angel of the Lord appeared no more to Manoah and his wife, then Manoah knew that He was the Angel of the Lord. And Manoah said to his wife, “We shall surely die, because we have seen God!”
Pay very close attention when you read this next verse because it’s very important that you see and understand what I’m about the share. Notice how YAH is using His Angel to speak His words. Pay close attention to YAH’s statement, “But if you indeed obey His voice and do all that I speak”. Did you catch that? If you obey His VOICE and do all that I SPEAK. YAH is speaking through His Messenger. Notice the authority YAH gives His Chief Messenger.
Exodus 23:20-22 “Behold, I send an Angel before you to keep you in the way and to bring you into the place which I have prepared. Beware of Him and obey His voice; do not provoke Him, for He will not pardon your transgressions; for My name is in Him. But if you indeed obey His voice and do all that I speak, then I will be an enemy to your enemies and an adversary to your adversaries.
This is the exalted position He lowered Himself from when He took on sinful flesh. He wasn’t stepping down from being YAH.
Now, this is very important. When the burning bush spoke to Moses it was YAH speaking through His Chief Messenger, so the Chief messenger was the one speaking but it was YAH’s words He was speaking. This is why people are confused when they hear the Angel saying, “I am the God of your fathers” and “I am that I am” and so on. It’s YAH’s words, but it’s His Angel speaking to them. This is why those who YAH uses to speak through hold the title “God.”
John 10:34-35 Jesus answered them, “Is it not written in your law, ‘I said, “You are gods”? If He called them gods, to whom the word of God came, and you know that the Scriptures cannot be altered.
This is the same way YAH spoke through Messiah by putting His words in Messiah’s mouth, by His Spirit.
Deuteronomy 18:18 I will raise up for them a Prophet like you from among their brethren, and will put My words in His mouth, and He shall speak to them all that I command Him.
YAH, speaking through His prophets by His Spirit, is how He has done it from the beginning, so it’s nothing new. The problem is that, people are not getting it.
Jeremiah 1:9 “Behold, I have put My words in your mouth.”
Acts 3:21 which God has spoken by the mouth of all His holy prophets since the world began.
2 Peter 1:21 for prophecy never came by the will of man, but holy men of God spoke as they were moved by the Holy Spirit.
This is how He speaks through Messiah, the Prophet we all need to listen to.
John 3:34 For Jesus is sent by God. He speaks God’s words, for God gives him the Spirit without limit.
John 17:8 For I have given to them the words which You have given Me.
John 12:48-50 He who rejects Me, and does not receive My words, has that which judges him—the word that I have spoken will judge him in the last day. I don’t speak on my own authority. The Father who sent me has commanded me what to say and how to say it. And I know his commands lead to eternal life; so I say whatever the Father tells me to say.”
Isaiah 51:16 I have put My words in your mouth.
This is very simple to see so if you can’t see this, you probably don’t have eyes that see or ears that hear, so there’s no need to go any further. Carry on.
