The Feast Days are God’s road map that reveals is plan for saving and restoring Israel, but it will affect the whole world.
Luke 2:25 A man named Simeon was in Jerusalem. He was righteous and devout. He eagerly anticipated the restoration of Israel, and the Holy Spirit rested on him.
Acts 1:6 So, when the apostles were with Jesus, they kept asking him, “Lord, are you at this time going to restore the kingdom to Israel?”
There are two groups of Feast Days, the Spring Feast Days and the Fall Feast Day. The Spring Feast Days have already been fulfilled at Messiah’s first coming, but He still needs to fulfilled the Fall Feast Days.
God’s Feast Days are all mapped out in the Leviticus 23.
Leviticus 23:4 In addition to the Sabbath, these are the Lord’s appointed Feast Days, the official days for holy assembly that are to be celebrated at their proper times each year.
The Spring Feast Days include the four following events:
1. The Feast of Passover - Leviticus 23:5
The Feast of Passover is when the lamb was sacrificed for the sins of the people. Passover foreshadows Messiah’s crucifixion as the Passover Lamb who takes away the sins of the world.
John 1:29 The next day John saw Jesus coming toward him, and said, “Behold! The Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world!
2. The Feast of Unleavened Bread - Leviticus 23:6–8
The Feast of Unleavened Bread is a seven-day Feast that begins the day after Passover. Israel was required to eat unleavened bread for seven days. Unleavened bread is a symbol of sinlessness. This foreshadows the sinless body of Messiah that was beaten and broken for sinners.
1 Corinthians 11:23-24 For I received from the Lord that which I also delivered to you: that the Lord Jesus on the same night in which He was betrayed took bread; and when He had given thanks, He broke it and said, “Take, eat; this is My body which is broken for you; do this in remembrance of Me.”
3. The Feast of First Fruits - Leviticus 23:9–14
The Feast of First Fruits is the resurrection of Messiah from the dead.
1 Corinthians 15:20 But now Christ is risen from the dead, and has become the first fruits of those who have fallen asleep.
4. The Feast of Pentecost - Leviticus 23:15–22
The Feast of Pentecost is the giving of the Spirit.
Acts 2:1-4 When the Day of Pentecost had fully come, they were all with one accord in one place. And suddenly there came a sound from heaven, as of a rushing mighty wind, and it filled the whole house where they were sitting. Then there appeared to them divided tongues, as of fire, and one sat upon each of them. And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance.
The Fall Feast Days still need to be fulfilled they include these five events.
1. The Feast of Trumps - Leviticus 23:23–25
The Feast of Trumps foreshadows the second coming of Messiah to raise the dead.
1 Thessalonians 4:16 For the Lord Himself will descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the Archangel, and with the trumpet of God. And the dead in Christ will rise first.
2. The Day of Atonement - Leviticus 23:26–32
The Day of Atonement is when Israel recognizes their Messiah. It’s a day of sorrow and joy. It’s a time of sorrow because when they recognize Him as Messiah, they also realize they are the ones who crucified Him. But instead of being angry, Messiah receives them. Atonement took place on the cross, but the Day of Atonement is when it becomes a literal reality in their lives as they are accepted by the one they killed.
Romans 5:11 And not only so, but we also joy in God through our Lord Jesus Christ, by whom we have now received the atonement.
1 Peter 2:24-25 He Himself bore our sins in His own body on the tree, that we, having died to sins, might live for righteousness—by whose stripes you were healed. For you were like sheep going astray but have now returned to the Shepherd and Overseer of your souls.
Between the Feast of Trumpets and the Day of Atonement is one week, this is when all of God’s people are in Heaven celebrating the Marriage Supper of the Lamb.
Revelation 19:6-9 Then I heard what seemed to be the voice of a great multitude, like the roar of many waters and like the sound of mighty peals of thunder, crying out, “Halleluyah! For the Lord our God the Almighty reigns. Let us rejoice and exult and give him the glory, for the marriage of the Lamb has come, and his Bride has made herself ready; it was granted her to clothe herself with fine linen, bright and pure”—for the fine linen is the righteous deeds of the saints. And the angel said to me, “Write this: Blessed are those who are invited to the marriage supper of the Lamb.” And he said to me, “These are the true words of God.”
Once the Marriage Supper of the Lamb is over, Messiah will return with 144000 to rule and reign on the earth for the 1000 years.
Revelation 14:1 Then I looked, and behold, a Lamb standing on Mount Zion, and with Him one hundred and forty-four thousand, having His Father’s name written on their foreheads.
3. The Feast of Tabernacles - Leviticus 23:33–43
The Feast of Tabernacles is the 1000 year Millennium. This is when Messiah rules and reigns for one thousand years on the earth. The Millennium starts at Messiah’s second coming.
The 1000 year millennium...
The 1000 year millennium is not a time for people to have a second chance, but rather, a first chance.
Let me explain...
The people who are alive during the 1000 year millennium are the people that never heard the Gospel and people that don't rejected the existence of God, they will make it into the millennium as mortals at Messiah's second coming.
Let me explain...
If you believe there is a God, but you just don't know Him or if you never heard the Gospel, you will survive the fiery destruction of the wicked at the second coming and enter the millennium as a mortal.
2 Thessalonians 1:8 In flaming fire taking vengeance on those who refuse to acknowledge God and on those who refuse to respond to the Gospel about our Lord Jesus.
I believe Isaiah 24:5-6 and Isaiah 66:15-17 give us a glimpse of the second coming. When it says, "Few men are left" those are the mortals that make it into the millennium.
Isaiah 24:5-6 The earth is also defiled under its inhabitants, because they have transgressed the laws, changed the ordinance, broken the everlasting covenant. Therefore, the curse has devoured the earth, and those who dwell in it are desolate. Therefore, the inhabitants of the earth are burned, and few men are left.
Isaiah 66:15-17 For see, the Lord will come with fire and with swift chariots of doom to pour out the fury of his anger and his hot rebuke with flames of fire. For the Lord will punish the world by fire and by his sword, and the slain of the Lord shall be many! Those who worship idols that are hidden behind a tree in the garden, feasting there on pork and mouse and all forbidden meat shall be consumed together,” says the Lord.
In the millennium, Messiah will rule and reign with the 144000 for a 1000 years, God's Law will be taught, and these people who never heard the truth will have their first chance to hear it and receive salvation.
Revelation 5:10 And have made us kings and priests to our God; And we shall reign on the earth.
Revelation 20:6 Blessed and holy is he who has part in the first resurrection. Over such the second death has no power, but they shall be priests of God and of Christ, and shall reign with Him a thousand years.
After the 1000 years there will be a final judgement and then the rest of God’s people will come down, the New Jerusalem, to live forever with the family of God on an earth made new.
Revelation 21:1-5 Now I saw a new heaven and a new earth, for the first heaven and the first earth had passed away. Also, there was no more sea. Then I, John, saw the holy city, New Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband. And I heard a loud voice from heaven saying, “Behold, the tabernacle of God is with men, and He will dwell with them, and they shall be His people. God Himself will be with them and be their God. And God will wipe away every tear from their eyes; there shall be no more death, nor sorrow, nor crying. There shall be no more pain, for the former things have passed away.” Then He who sat on the throne said, “Behold, I make all things new.” And He said to me, “Write, for these words are true and faithful.”
4. The Eight Day (The Great Day) - Leviticus 23:36
Some people count the “Eighth Day” as a Feast Day, while others don’t. The Eighth Day is when all has been completed and fulfilled, and the New Jerusalem has come and Messiah turns the finished Kingdom over to His Father.
1 Corinthians 15:22-28 Just as everyone dies because we all belong to Adam, everyone who belongs to Christ will be given new life. But there is an order to this resurrection: Christ was raised as the first of the harvest; then all who belong to Christ will be raised when he comes back. After that the end will come, when he will turn the Kingdom over to God the Father, having destroyed every ruler and authority and power. For Christ must reign until he humbles all his enemies beneath his feet. And the last enemy to be destroyed is death. For the Scriptures say, “God has put all things under his authority.” Of course, when it says “all things are under his authority,” that does not include God himself, who gave Christ his authority. Then, when all things are under his authority, the Son will put himself under God’s authority, so that God, who gave his Son authority over all things, will be utterly supreme over everything everywhere.
These are the Feast Day of God, they are to be remember at their appointed times because they are God’s roadmap of what He is doing, and when He is doing it.
The Feast Days are the responsibility of Messiah to fulfill, this is why He said this in Matthew 5:17-18.
Matthew 5:17-18 Do not think that I have come to abolish the Torah or the Prophets; I have not come to abolish them but to fulfill them. For truly I tell you, until heaven and earth disappear, not the smallest letter, not the least stroke of a pen, will by any means disappear from the Law until everything is accomplished.
