I hear so many people ask me, "Is the Sabbath all you ever talk about?"
Here is the important thing to understand about gathering on the Sabbath, as opposed to Sunday. What you learn in a Sabbath keeping assembly you will never learn in a Sunday church, they are incompatible.
There are two very powerful messages to God’s people in these last days:
1. Return to worshiping the one true God who created everything.
Revelation 14:6-7 Then I saw another angel flying in the midst of heaven, having the everlasting gospel to preach to those who dwell on the earth—to every nation, tribe, tongue, and people — saying with a loud voice, “Fear God and give glory to Him, for the hour of His judgment has come; and worship Him who made heaven and earth, the sea and springs of water.”
2. And come out of Babylon.
Revelation 18:4 Then I heard another voice calling from heaven, “Come out of Babylon, my people. Do not take part in her sins, or you will share in her punishment.”
Babylon is a form of worship that is rooted in pagan sun worship, with all its attachment. Even Sunday itself is rooted in sun worship.
In Roman culture, Sunday was the day of the Sun god. In paganism, the Sun was a source of life, giving warmth and illumination to mankind. Sunday - Wikipedia
God does not want His people worshiping Him the same way pagans worship their false gods.
Deuteronomy 12:4 Do not worship the LORD your God in the way these pagan peoples worship their gods.
Deuteronomy 12:29-31 When the LORD your God goes ahead of you and destroys the nations and you drive them out and live in their land, do not fall into the trap of following their customs and worshiping their gods. Do not inquire about their gods, saying, ‘How do these nations worship their gods? I want to follow their example.’ You must not worship the LORD your God the way the other nations worship their gods, for they perform for their gods every detestable act that the LORD hates.
You won’t learn this in Sunday churches. The only way to come out of Babylon is by learning the truth, and applying it to your life. This means there is a “time” and a “place” where the truth is being taught, and since the Sabbath is the time, now you need to find the place. That’s the hard part.
Leviticus 23:3 You have six days in which to do your work, but remember that the seventh day is the Sabbath, a day of rest. On that day do not work, but gather for worship. The Sabbath belongs to the LORD, no matter where you live.
The Sabbath is the time and the Sabbath assembly is the place. When you attend Sabbath fellowship, you will learn the true word of God, which is not happening in Sunday churches.
Acts 13:44 On the next Sabbath almost the whole city came together to hear the word of God.
In Sunday churches you will learn a form of godliness, but it won’t be rooted in the Torah and the Prophets, according to, The Way.
Acts 24:14 I admit that I worship the God of our ancestors as a follower of the Way, which they call a cult. I believe everything that is in accordance with the Torah and that is written in the Prophets.
In Sunday churches you will learn and practice things such as, Christmas. Christmas is also rooted in pagan sun worship, no matter how much they make it seem godly or religious.
December 25th was observed as the birthday of the sun as part of the ancient Roman festival called Saturnalia. It was also the date of the birthday of the pagan sun-god Mithras (sometimes also spelled Mithra). {The Catholic Encyclopedia}
The power that is able to make one godly is the Torah and the Prophets, because that’s where godliness, righteousness and holiness is defined, which Sunday churches have thrown out.
2 Timothy 3:5 They will act as if they were serving God. But what they do will show that they have turned their backs on God’s power. Have nothing to do with these people.
Let me give you an example.
In the formulation of the early church there were many new converts turning to God. These new converts had so much to learn about their new life in Christ that it can be overwhelming for them to learn too much all at once so Paul told the teachers not to over burden the new converts with too much information all at once so start off by telling to abstain from things polluted by idols, from sexual immorality, from things strangled, and from blood. Why just this short list? Because they will learn the rest of what they need to know when they attend Sabbath fellowship because that’s where the Torah and the Prophets are being taught.
Now, with this information in mind, let’s read the verse that everyone uses to through out the Sabbath.
Acts 15:19-21 My judgment is that we should not make it difficult for the Gentiles who are turning to God. Instead, we should write and tell them to abstain from eating food offered to idols, from sexual immorality, from eating the meat of strangled animals, and from consuming blood. For Moses, from generations of old, has in every city those who preach him, being read in the synagogues every Sabbath.
It’s when you attend Sabbath fellowship that you learn about godliness, righteousness and holiness. As a side note, Sunday churches teach that it doesn’t matter what you eat, but according to Acts 15:20, it does matter, and it’s only the beginning.
Remember, when Timothy says, “From childhood you’ve known the Scriptures, which are to be used for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work. The only Scriptures they had from childhood was the Torah and the Prophets; the New Testament didn’t exist.
2 Timothy 3:15-17 From childhood you have known the Holy Scriptures, which are able to make you wise for salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus.
All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instructtion in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work.
Now, there will be some people who say we are under grace, so there is no need for the Torah and the Prophets, but grace was given to help us live by what the Torah and the Prophets teach us.
Titus 2:11-14 For the grace of God that brings salvation has appeared to all men, teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly in the present age, looking for the blessed hope and glorious appearing of our great God and Savior Jesus Christ, who gave Himself for us, that He might redeem us from every lawless deed and purify for Himself His own special people, zealous for good works.
Christ redeems us from every lawless deed/Torahless deed so that we can live a lawful life in Christ.
So, why is the Sabbath so important? Because that’s where you learn the truth that sets you free from the effects of living a lawless life.
